The "IQ" thread set me off on
this one. I discovered a site which groups people fairly accurately
(judging by the people I know who have tried it) into one of 16 basic
personality types.
Now, what I would be interested to know is
whether there is any bias towards a particular type on Dr Karl's site. In
other words, do people who are interested enough in science to post
questions and answers here have a bias towards one or more of the 16
types?
From statistics collected on the test site, it appears that
the web is skewed to towards some types. For example, about 30% of the
people who have taken the test on the web register as "Idealists", but
they only make up 10% of the general population.
If you'd like to
take the test, click on the link below. There are two parts, each of which
involves answering about 15 to 20 multiple choice questions. No
identifying personal data is collected. Perhaps you could post your type
here and we can do an informal survey?

Having gone back and read the
info on the personality types, it seems horribly accurate, at least for
myself.

I haven't tried the site, but
from the letters people are quoting "INFP" etc, it sounds like a
Myers-Briggs personality type test.
Sorry to be a spoilsport (I
thort it was pretty accurate too) but there's a whole lot of info
debunking this test on the sceptics page (don't remember the URL but
somebody will)
I came out INTP, but I forget wot it
means.

The questions are meant to be
ambiguous, Jason... The test looks at how you interpret these ambiguous
questions. Anyway, in the interests of science, I'm off to do mine now...
Stay tuned...

I'm INTP.
I'd say most of
the people here (especially those who tend to be able to answer more
questions than they ask) would be NT ("Rational"). Rationality tends to be
a bit of a prerequisite for scientific-type thinking (i.e. logical
approach to problem solving, etc).

I came out as a Rational (NT) and
Architect (INTP). Scary but true!
Wont tell the other half though
as he already gives me hard time for giving him a hard time when he takes
the longest, most convoluted method to complete a task that I can do in
three moves or less. Have pity on the man - living with someone like me
can't be a picnic.
