All new FAQ

About the Self-Service Science Forum & FAQ
The FAQ is now fully operational.
The new start looks fancy but it is only 38K and has a bypass button.

The FAQ no longer links to the Forum threads
Every single thread on the forum related to the FAQ has been downloaded.and edited (See Editing Policy)
Regardless if the forum is up and running or not the FAQ is open for business.
Regardless of the broken threads and missing material. The FAQ has the works.

Every single site listed as a source by anyone is now listed in the area marked “Credits”.
Every single new references obtained from public domain sites and limited restriction sites is listed under “Copyright”

Since the threads are now independent they can be edited. In short, every question that is listed in the FAQ is now up for grabs at any stage.
Is there an answer which is wrong?
Is there more to add?
Has a new discovery been made?

These can be added at any stage now to the FAQ with credit set out just as it is on the SSSF.

Editing Policy

The threads were edited before being added to the FAQ.
(There were some exceptions most notably the “Orange” thread. I only removed the ABC disclaimer for all posts except the last which is consistent with the ABC’s current layout of VBT threads. Just doing that removed 120K for the size of that thread.)

1) Every post has had the ABC disclaimer removed except the last post which is consistent with the ABC’s current layout of VBT threads.
This forum is un-moderated. The views and opinions expressed are those of the individual poster and not the ABC. The ABC reserves the right to remove offensive or inappropriate messages.

2) All chat and gags were removed. It would be clear to anyone which posts are relevant to the topic and which ones are just banter or clearly off topic.

3) All mistakes were fixed. All your rubber chickens are belong to me. Every time I saw a post that stated whoops I should have closed those HTML tags or words saying “That last post should say I have a little cork” I removed the correction post and fixed the original.

4) Progressively, the spelling will be corrected as well.

5) All trolls were vanquished. Potty mouth trolls or just shite stirrers.

6) Broken links to pictures have been fixed or removed

7) All external links to sites have been placed in a text format so I can tell at a glance which links are internal and which are external.

8) Many sites have been altered to link to information sites which are copyright free. Progressively all the FAQ will be transformed to information which was provided internally or obtained from public domain sites or other sites which list educational and/or non profit activities as an acceptable use for the information.

9) Every thread can now be edited at short notice if it is wrong or out of date. This literally means that I can add posts to threads which have died and gone to the archives long ago. These additions will be made by consensus.

10) If you find a post you made in the FAQ that you want corrected, I can do this

11) Everything is editable now with regard to this FAQ. The pictures, the posts, the names…everything.
