birds ever burp? My educated guess is no. Birds have a very unique digestive system. I looked on the internet and was not able to find a diagram. You may wish to visit your local library for a look at one. It consists of the esophagus, crop, proventriculus, gizzard, small intestine, 2 colic caeca, the large intestine, and cloaca (in that order). Birds hold food in their crop and can regurgitate when needed to feed their young. The gizzard is a muscular organ that helps grind up seeds in preparation for digstion, since they swollow their food whole. You can view the human digestive system at http://www.nyu.edu/pages/highschool/gp5/page3htm You can learn about bird nutrition at http://www.bath.ac.uk/~masres/birds/digest.html Janet Hoff, Staff, Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine, University of Michigan http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/jun99/928381617.Gb.r.html Do birds ever burp ? | |
