Can you eat something to produce more?
And does more make the joy of love making better?

Hi Mark,

What is sperm made of?

The primary components of typical sperm are the nucleus, acrosome and flagellum. The nucleus contains the genetic information, the acrosome contains the enzyme that allows the sperm to enter the ovum, and the flagellum is the tail that the sperm uses to swim.

Can you eat something to produce more?

Not as far as I know, spermatogenesis is regulated hormonally.

And does more make the joy of love making better?

As sperm only make up a small fraction of the total volume of semen I can't see that it would make any noticable difference.

Hope that answers your questions.

Spermatozoa are merely cells in the human body formed when a normal / stem / whatever cell splits into two, leaving UNPAIRED chromosomes. This is known as meiosis (I think, I sometimes mix this up).

Normally, when cells split, the chromosomes replicate themselves, and each cell has the same number as the original. This is known as mitosis.

Of course, sometimes the damn thing doesn't split right, so one sperm has 2 chromosomes of some type and the other has 0. If that then meets with a normal egg, you end up with some disorder, like down's syndrome.

By the way, this is year 10/11 biology/genetics here, so if I'm wrong, sue the Board of Education.
